Fosters provide a temporary living space for dogs in our program while they await their forever homes. We need fosters for all different kinds of dogs including stressed out shy dogs, those healing from medical problems, pregnant mamas, and, of course, pups who simply need home notes!

Donations from the public make up a big portion of the supplies we use to take care of our animals in the shelter and in foster homes! If you have items at home that you are considering giving to APA!, please check the list to ensure we can make the best use of your donation, or click through our various Wish Lists to see the items we can accept.
Provide a safe, clean, and caring environment.
Provide food, water, toys/enrichment, and shelter.
Provide exercise and socialization if appropriate.
Monitor for physical and mental wellbeing.
Transport to/from any necessary free vet appointments at APA!'s Town Lake location.
Actively marketing your foster dog for adoption.
Screening and meeting with potential adopters; being responsive and courteous towards potential adopters; following our adoption protocols.
There are so many benefits to opening your heart and home to foster a dog, but just to name a few:
Join volunteers and staff who watch over the dogs we love in the same way we would if they were actually ours. Be an advocate, trainer, friend, and take them on outings and sleepovers. Start the process of joining a Flight Crew by becoming an active member of our dog walking program.
