Fosters provide a temporary home for pets in APA!’s care while they are awaiting their forever home or the opportunity to move into one of our onsite adoption locations.

There are so many benefits to opening your home to foster a dog or cat, but just to name a few:
Many of our dogs and cats cannot go directly into our shelter – the only way we can save these animals is with the help of foster homes.
Provide a safe, clean, and caring environment.
Provide food, water, litter, toys/enrichment, and shelter.
Provide exercise and socialization if appropriate.
Monitor for physical and mental wellbeing.
Transport to/from any necessary vet appointments.
Transport to/from offsite adoption events
If you are fostering cats, isolation from other animals in the home is required for a minimum of 10-14 days.

We offer a hands-on opportunity for teens who want to help homeless animals and earn community service hours for school or an organization. Together with their families, teens can foster a dog or cat and receive experience caring for an animal!
