Rory Adams is dedicated to fostering connections between people and animals through compassionate, inclusive, and innovative approaches to animal welfare. As a transgender person, Rory is most comfortable leading from the margins, working at the intersections of social justice, feminism, and animal welfare to create equitable and inclusive change for people, animals, and the planet.
In
their role as the Director of Strategic Customer Service at Austin Pets
Alive, Rory brings over 16 years of experience in animal welfare, with a
focus on enhancing the connection between people and animals both
locally and globally. Rory has previously served at organizations including PetSmart Charities, American Pets Alive, and Maddie's Fund, where they spearheaded the development and implementation of Maddie’s Apprenticeship and Fellowship programs.
Rory
is passionate about ensuring all shelter animals are valued and given a
chance at life. Their expertise and interests span a variety of areas,
including connecting people and pets, fostering community engagement,
removing barriers to foster care and adoption, and empowering shelter
directors and advocates to leverage shelter data for impactful
decision-making.
Believing wholeheartedly that people are key to creating a world where both animals and humans can thrive, Rory is focused on expanding initiatives that nurture future leaders, heal social injustices, and celebrate the love shared between humans, animals, and our habitats.
